- אָחII interj. 1) (b. h.) exclamation of sorrow, Oh! Meg.11a (play on ăhashverosh; v. אָח I) א׳ לראשו woe upon his head. Snh.102b (play on Ahab אח־אב) א׳ לשמי׳ a subject of grief to the Lord, and father (friend) of idolatry.2 (= Syr.) exclamation of joy, Ah! Targ. Is. 44:16 (h. הֶאָח).
